Show and Tell Friday at Kelli's




No, ladies, these are not buttons (even though that's what they look like in this picture!)...this is my collection of "German" plates from Colonia Tovar, Venezuela. Colonia Tovar is a little German village nestled in the mountains outside of Caracas, Venezuela. We love it there! One of the times we were up there, we purchased these (for our kitchen back then). Now they are in our piano room.



Here they are in detail, from largest down to smallest....













My plates are wooden, handpainted, and hand-detailed. They are some of my favorite decorations!

Tocaya, como que rosemaling? Eso se pronuncia en ingles o español?

Ajá! got you! es una técnica de pintura que se llama así. A lo mejor la bautizaron así los alemanes. Se pronuncia 'rousmeilin' fonéticamente. Lo sé, porque he estado buscando patrones e instrucciones recientemente, me gusta pintar cositas country y flores. Pero lo de rosemaling es mas dificil... anyway, lo voy a intentar, pues es una belleza!!
(hacer manualidades me quita a al sr. CH de la cabeza...)
